Consulting for IPv6

Many things need to be considered in the IPv6 migration.  See below for some sample topics.  We can help you with strategic planning, setting up your lab, or reviewing your implementation plans.   You may just want to talk over with us what you are doing!  You know what they say, failing to plan is planning to fail!

Our consulting works well with our training.   The pricing for our consulting is a minimum of $4,000 for a 10 hour package.  Contact us to see how we can help you!

Support for New Services

The adoption of IPv6 is crucial for the support of emerging technologies and services that require an extensive amount of IP addresses, such as the Internet of Things (IoT), smart cities, and 5G networks. These technologies rely heavily on the ability to assign a unique IP address to potentially billions of devices, something that IPv6 can accommodate but IPv4 cannot.  We can discuss how  to do the addressing for these types of networks.

Regulatory and Policy Compliance

In some regions, governments and industry regulatory bodies are beginning to mandate the use of IPv6 for certain types of organizations or services, particularly those involved in critical infrastructure or public services. Enterprises operating in these sectors or regions may need to migrate to IPv6 to comply with these regulations.  We can discuss what the requirements are and how to comply with them.

Managing Services

Many organizations use DNS and DHCP.  How should the migration of these be handled?  You may have heard of DNS over HTTPS (DoH), should this be used?  Where should devices get DHCPv6 addresses vs.  using stateless autoconfigutation?

When migrating, the Network Architect needs to consider whether all these choices introduce operational complexity, potential performance bottlenecks, single points of failure and work well in disaster recovery situation.

IPv4 Services

Some applications or services may not be able to migrate easily (or ever!) from IPv4.   The Network Architect needs to decide how to manage these.

You may wish to use our IPv6 Migration Reverse Proxy so that you can manage your migration.
